Broke a bolt installing subframe collars... Does it matter?

i snapped one of the 2 bolts that hold the black brace to the car that also attaches to the rear subframe bolt... Whats the implications of this... It wont move due to the other bolt so i think ill be ok but wanted to check.

With the way all these companies try and make things as cheap as possible, if they put a bolt in, it's because it's needed.

well its gonna be a pain to replace it but i guess ill have to try, half the bolt is still in the car where it snapped so id have to drill that out, re-thread it and put a new bolt i i guess

Have you tried an EZout, yet? I would go that route before resizing the bolt or heli-coil. Soak it with PB Blaster several times before attempting to remove it.

DEFINITELY get a replacement in there. I would not drive without a subframe bolt.

Its not the actual subframe bolt, its one of the bolts that supports the bracket attached to the subframe bolt. The brackets got one good bolt in it, but yea i definitely need to try and get that out

TIP

When dealing with trying to remove old rusted bolts. Turn the bolt to loosen just a little then turn bolt back to tight, then turn bolt back to loosen a little more than before then tighten the bolt back...continue this way so that the rust and crap works its way out the threads of the bolt then it will come out instead of trying to get it to come out in one twist...thats how stuff snaps.....my mechanic showed me this trick.

Use the trick all the time.

I also spray the threads as I tighten/loosen the bolt. Helps to seep penetrating fluid into the gunked up threads.
