I'd probably also go with the Firehawk, although I do like some aspects of the WRX.

The cost of insurance should also be a factor. I don't know how old you are but if you're young, the cost of insuring the Firehawk might be outrageous.

WRX for me... massive tuning options, turbo and AWD. Plus I love the styling (it grew on me).

Seems like the GTP is on the bottom of everyone's list, and I would tend to agree. I like the Maxima because it's a bigger car than the WRX (read: safer), it's naturally aspirated, and it'll fit a few people when we par-tay (read: interior won't get destroyed). The Firehawk is an animal. Just be careful driving in the snow.

2002 Max, imprezza wrx in that order. I traded my 96' grand prix for a 2k1 max, best choice ever! No more pontiac's! 1) I put $2800 of repairs into the grand prix, with only 42K on it. 1) blown intake manifold gasket, 2) water pump, 3) new exhaust 4) A/C went out-traded it in with that little problem, it would have cost $900 to fix. The condenser that is behind the dash blew a hole in it, $300 part 7 hours labor to take the dash apart. I did tell my sales guy about it, hard to trade a car in with no a/c.
I drove a firehawk, rear wheel drive sucks in the snow, and insurance premiums high. With the max you get one of the most reliable v6's in it's class, as well as a cool car.
Drove a wrx, awd is cool, ir corners like it is on rails, but small interior, not as luxurious as the max is for the same cost.
Have fun, test drive lots!

since i already have the max now i wouldn't want the wrx as my next car.. imo it would be considered as a down grade.. and of course it's just my opinion on that matter.. i would recomend either auto or the 6spd 2k2 maxima over any of those cars you've listed.. it's just different.

I'd say stay with either the 2k2 Maxima or WRX and stay away from the Firehawk, reason is most people who buy these sportscar beats the living crap outta them. The car is a 99 and the warranty will be gone soon if not already. Go with a brand new car at least you'll be the 1st to own it.

why, so you can go like stink in a straight line?? go with the max if the prevailing part of your personality is as a passenger....with the wrx if your a driver.....max is great, cushy, luxurious, torquey, and a great car for its classification.....the wrx is considerably less plush, comfortable, and..ahem..not as luxuriously executed, but its a very cool car....you gotta make the call on this one

all depend what you are looking for...

performance and room.... Max.
something 4 wheel drive and able to beat most of the car on the road.. WRX
performance and room... but American... GTP
V8 power and a sports car... Tran Am

personally... I will take the max... it's a well balanced car.. with room and perforamce... WRX is too small... GTP... ney.. would never get an american car cuz the quality... and too old for a straightline sports car..(only 25.. but still too old for it..)

Max

i was in the same dilemma, WS6, WRX, or Max. The WS6 was just plain cheap on build quality and interior, but damn is it fast. The wrx is fun and fast, extremelely peaky, and the interior is barely a step up from my 200sx. And its small. Plus, i have been on the WRX forum alot, mods are 1. very expensive, 2. Not many of those guys, even modded, have surpassed magazine numbers do to the fact that the magazines did 6k awd clutch drops which regular owners do not wish to do, and 3. there are several that have already blown there trannies.

i take the max all the way. i am waiting on my HLSD to get here so i can put up a dyno graph and also run it at the strip to help in the never ending battle of the 3.5 alty vs 3.5 max. BTW, altimas.net now has someone saying that the 15hp difference is due to the fact that Nissan intentionally flattened a small parotion of the exhaust pipe that runs behind the gas tank(so you can not easily see it). that post cracked me up.

Get the max!

I had a firebird formula...it is a great car, but it is too fast! Plus the insurance is going to be crazy and the cops can spot a firehawk a mile away. I finally had to get rid of my firebird after getting 6 tickets in a year....and one of them I had to spend time with "BUBBY" for the weekend! Another time I got pulled over for doing 20 in a 15 mph zone....a block from my barracks....that hurt!

Get a 6 speed max and you will be almost as fast as a firehawk without having the arrest me sign whereever you go!
