Just bought a 02 maxima with the 6 speed. I have the two codes p0021 and p0011 which is for the two cam sensors. Bought them brand new from nissan dealer and after swapping them the car barely runs. It will idle but as soon as i give it gas it stumbles and sputters. With the old sensors it runs decent just crappy idle and loss of power. I have swapped the sensors a couple times back and forth just to confirm so i dont think its the connection. Also i was swapping these with the engine warm. Maybe this could be the problem? I also was doing the ecu reset procedure everytime i swapped them I need to get this car through emmisions so any input is appreciated
Try cleaning out the old ones with brake/parts cleaner and squirt a little down the oil passages.
Beyond that, idk, if it's timing related.

tried that couldent tell a difference. i put the new ones in again for the heck of it and same thing as before. i can rev the car once then right after it just bogs way down wont go over 1500 rpm i also noticed the ses was flashing. i know that means its misfiring but cant really see how because with the old sensors in it doesnt seem like it has misfire. i think im just gonna have to take it to the nissan dealer and hope for the best unless anyone else has any opinions

If it were me, I would probably remove the valve cover and make sure the little contact that trips the signal for the cam sensor is clean. Other than that, it's hard to say why the new sensors would make it worse. That's kind of odd.

I was thinking about that too but maybe i would do it if the new one made no difference. the worst thing about all of this is i just bought this car and cant even pass emissions so cant drive my new car Originally Posted by dfj240

. i think the nissan dealer will have to be the last option even though im probably going to have to spend like 500 to probably get it all straightened out but i guess thats life. what i did also do is leave of the ground for battery over night and it does not have ses light when started and it still runs rough but can get small revs out of it up until 3 grand before backfiring and cutting out.
