01 SECU remote not working

Hi all, i have 2001 maxima. I changed all the corner lights bulbs, and the key fob stopped working. the cars starts and drives fine but there are no interior lights. The door open / trunk light goes on if you put the defogger on or open the visor mirrors. I read somewhere here that it can be the SECU that may be bad. I got another 1 from a junkyard but the problems still exist.. I checked all the fuses under the dash. they all seem fine. what else could cause this? Ive been dealing with this for a few months now and its finally getting really annoying. Thank you!!

I had the same issue. I thought it was the SECU but it turned out to be just a blown fuse. I'm not sure exactly which one, but I think it was labeled "interior lighting".

that fuse would casue the key fob to not work as well? ill recheck all the fuses. I red somewhere there is a fusible link under the hood somewhere that can cause similiar problems. any idea where?

What year is your max? and what were you doing when your lighting went out? When it happened to me, I was changing the bulbs to LEDs in the vanity lights (the lights in the fold-down mirrors). I accidentally used a bigger bulb than I should (it was for the dome light instead) and it sparked and the lights went out. I had a repair shop fix it since it was headed there the next day anyways.

If you have already checked all the fuses in your fuse box located in the compartment under the steering wheel area, check the fuse boxes in the engine bay. There are a total of 3, but for your issue, it's most likely in this box. (located nearest the battery)
