Alternative fix for steering bump caps???
Getting a loud metal-on-metal grind when turning with the wheel turned to its limit. There is a stud/limiter that hits the control arm and usually covered with a hard plastic cap. Its missing, and the one on the other side is torn up.
The $2 part isn't in stock at PepBoys, AutoZone, or Nissan. Has anyone come up with an alternative to these? Or does anyone know the exact stud diameter? There has got to be something at Home Depot that can be screwed onto that stud to stop the noise.

Like I said, nobody has the part. It's a 2+ week wait according to Nissan. I'm not sure how ordering a factory part to replace a broken part is a DIY fix...that's like blowing your engine, buying a new engine, and calling it a DIY fix.

If you DO IT YOURSELF it is
Just order them anyways. And if you can't wait, try measuring the stop pin and go get something that will work, you could even put a "anti scratch" pad on there like they use for furniture legs for the time being.
Are you exaggerating this grinding? Because if it's grinding and is that bad that it's intolerable for 2 weeks, I'd think something else is wrong here.

Clean up the ends of it with a wire brush and slather some grease on there to get you by in the meantime. Or, when you turn the wheel and you have reached the limit of turning, back the steering wheel off a bit to keep it from rubbing.
