Another oil burner?!?!?!

After having 07 maxima motor with 30K miles swapped in to my 03 max, I thought the oil burning would be resolved, was i wrong or what? With a little over thousand miles on the motor, the dip stick registered as 1 quart low. I usually check underneath the car everyday for leaks so thats not the problem. Could I possibly have another oil burner or can something else be causing this? Valve covers is fairly new with less than 10K miles on it. I read up on possibly pre-cat failures can cause the burn?

Called the salvaged yd and they want a sample of the oil. What can they possibly check for in the sample ?????? Seems like some BS to me but i maybe wrong.
I'm so aggravated, that I'm at a point to getting rid of the car.

Please help

Thanks

They probably want a sample so they can check for impurities in the oil caused from combustion blowby with worn rings, and things like that.

These engines are burning oil @ the valve stem seals not the rings!

Can motor with about 36k miles have any bad seals? Can anything else lead to the oil consumption? Guess its the risk I took with motor from salvage yard. I will wait in the mean time til the salvage yd comes back with any information with the oil sample sent over.

even a brand new engine can have bad seals or anything whether it be a part defect, bad design, or something happened back at the factory, just saying there's always a chance that something could go wrong.
