Need help! Removing vent about stereo. Any Tips?

I'm pulling straight out after I lifted up. I'm really
pulling on it too!

I take it you have the "premium" SE stereo? If so, keep yanking. Grab somewhere strong on it (don't grab the little vent blades). Pull up and out... maybe 30 degree angle from the straight out.

Good luck

I got it thanks. Any suggestions getting the screws out
of the stereo? I think they must have some loctite on
them. Hair dryer? I don't want to wreck the screws
with a power screwdriver.

Good friggin luck! I got about 4 or 5 out. The others I ended up drilling out. I thing God is involved in putting those screws in. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

aren't those screws hex screws (that's what I call them)? They can be taken out by a ratchet and socket??? I haven't looked at them in a long time, but I was thinking you could use the socket to break them loose.

If that doesn't work, then get a drill and screw bit ... push on the back of it into the screw and hard as you can (I put all my weight into it) and then run it. If it starts to slip though, back off of the screws. You will strip the head. Also try putting some liquid wrench on there too...

I think the screws he's talking about are the ones holding the bracket to the radio, not the radio in the car. On my 2k max they were philips and tightened with the strength of many good strong men. It'd take an impact wrench to remove them but that would strip them immeadiately. It was nuts I tell you!!! Nuts!!

I hope you didn't break anything. When my bro installed the CD changer, it slides right out.....

All I gotta say it that was a ***** of a job! I've installed
car stereos before and that was the hardest. Not really how
you do it but how each screw seems like it's torqued!

I used a 2' long phillips screwdriver. the key is to actually try and tighten it first, then loosen, rock it like a stuck car with all the leverage you can.

Use a firm, even pressure perpendicular to the screw, as if you're trying to push through the screw. Then try and applying torque at the same time. It should free up the screw. I had a little trouble too, but it shouldn't be too hard.
