Car sluggish

My car started driving sluggishly after I did a drain and refill of the ATF. I used Supertech DexronIII/Mercon.
Do you think that is the problem and should I change it to a different ATF?
The manual does state that dexronIII is a valid replacement or maybe it is the brand?
From what I understand Supertech ATF is manufactured by TEXACO or valvoline depending on which one.
I read all the threads and did not find a conclusive answer but many people said Mobil 1 Synthetic which states certified for matic d is better.

Any dex III will be fine. Check your fluid level as over or under filling can cause your symptoms.

To check:
-car and transmission must be at operating temperature
-cycle through all gears including 1, 2, 3
-find level surface
-put in park with engine running

I usually check it with the cold marks. I turn on the engine cycle through and check with engine running. It is at the top of the cold mark but not above. Should I remove some fluid?

No, there are "HOT" marks on the dipstick. You need to make sure both the engine and transmission are warmed up sufficiently. This means going for a drive, 5 to 10 minutes should be sufficient in the heat.

If it is above the "HOT" mark you should definitely remove fluid.

I believe another factor I found is whether you're checking the fluid with the car on or off.

Thanks so I checked it and it is at the top hot line maybe very slightly above. Should I take out so that it is in middle of the lines? How much do you think that is? A pint ?

Yes. Use a clean bottle if you can. This way you can pour back in if you take out too much.
