New head unit in 2002 bose maxima
I unlike some like the sound of my bose system(when its working) but the factory head unit is terrible. sound cuts out all over the place, it cant read cds right. it just sucks to be honest. i read online that if you do put a aftermarket head unit in that the preamp output may not be enough and it will not turn up very loud. this is no good to me as with the windows down the bose as it is is barely loud enough. the factory speakers are not blown at all and i would like to keep it as factory as possible. how to i connect a aftermarket head unit to factory bose amp with minimal loss in signal. ive been searching for days cant seem to find what im looking for

Please read the "Bose radio replacement" thread in the audio section.
Your questions are valid, but have been answered about a hundred times. (99% of them by me )
It is VERY possible to do, as long as it's wired in a very specific way. Start by picking an aftermarket head unit.

I don't mind the factory bose either but I haven't recently been spoiled to hear anything else really.
I now have CD ERR F3 on mine and no one knows what that means, only CD ERR F0 has been discussed. once the busy summer months pass I am going to try to open it up and re-seat the ribbon cable for the speaker cut out for a second time and reseat the additional cable I pray that the secondary cable will fix my CD ERR F3. Thanks again imjd
If not its on to the aftermarket world (alpine or bust), but I can imagine an internal 6 disc HD has got to be pricey.
