FSTB 02-03 Install Advise

Taking the 3 - 14mm blots on each side of the strut off isn't going to affect the suspension in any way is it? I'm not sure really what that bolts to since I never mess with this part of the car. What happens when the bolts are off, is there a nut a the bottom I need to hold with another wrench?

Nothing will happen just make sure your tires are on and on the floor, it should stay in position to install the bar, you can loosen em up to the top to see if you are scared.....hope this helps Good Luck should take like 15-20mins...

ok I will be doing this within the next hour, hope it goes smooth.

The install went smooth and driving feels more solid. It helped out with my torque steer too.

Like anything on the car, there's a proper torque setting for those nuts. I believe 45 to 60 lb-ft, IIRC. You should look it up in the FSM.

Regarding torque settings - do most people actually use a torque measuring tool? Or just go by 'feel'? I looked up prices on dial torque measuring tools and they are like 200 bucks :eek3:

I got a precision instruments torque wrench from a pawn shop for $40, it retails for $200, go to a pawn shop, they usually always have them. I think SPLIT-BEAM
Click Wrenches are the best.. You don't have to reset it back to 0 after each use like some other styles.

Precisely why I said IIRC... which it seems I didn't recall correctly at all, LOL. However I also recommended you look up the proper torque in the field service manual.

Wait.. now I remember. I got those numbers from Stillen, who recommends 43 - 58.

And there it is.

Some places, like Autozone, will let you borrow tools.

You can also borrow tools from strangers work trucks in parking lots (joking.. don't do that)

I go by feel on most of the bolts that call for less than about 70 lb/ft and I use a torque wrench on things like strut bolts, lugs(because you can warp rotors) and brake work. For those 3 bolts on top just snug em down good, they aren't going anywhere

Kind of off topic but can you post pics of your FSTB? This was the one you bought from the classifieds recently, correct? Just wanting to see if it actually is a Megan FSTB cause the price seems too good to be true. Thanks

If you'd like I'll post some pics up tomorrow when I have access to a decent camera.

Sure, thanks.. I'd appreciate it I just need to see an actual pic of the product before I buy rather than a stock photo from the manufacturer.

Most places loan tools and charge a deposit, which you get back when you return the tool
