2000 Ti radio code issues !

2000 Ti radio code issues !
Hi all,
I have bought a 2000 maxima Ti and the radio code is tripped. Nissan cannot confirm the possible two code numbers written in the log book (8885 or 8677) are correct as it may have been an imported car and not on their system. ??
The radio is a Clarion CL0396X0005176, CT003, PN-1675D.
I can get as far as entering either of these two suspect code numbers in, but then what? Is there an accept key? if I touch other buttons is reverts to waiting 60 min to try again... any help would be greatful.
