Bose Stereo Replacement Question

I want to replace the Bose headunit in my '00, but I don't know much about car audio. I know the bose system has powered speakers, and I've heard that you need special adapters or you'll blow your speakers, but I've also heard that you don't need anything. Does anyone know if these will work with the stock system?

If I ever decide to replace the head unit in my car (Bose) I'd probably remove everything and install all new speakers/amps/wires with the head unit. I've messed with Bose systems in other cars and it's a p.i.t.a. to "get around" everything. It's best IMO to spend a little more money and just redo everything.

I replaced the bose in my 96 with a clarion and had it done properly. Soooo much better. I don't think it is necessary to get rid of the Bose speakers.

Once upon a time you were able to mix and match Bose with no-bose and get excellent, audiophile quality results. Right now I have a Clarion head unit interfacing with my completely stock Bose speakers in my 98 I30. I'm able to do it with very high audio quality because my AudioLink PD-4.

Unfortunately Audiloink went out of business because no one wanted to pay $150 for the adapter. It was, and still is worth it IMHO.

If you can find the PD-4 on ebay or somewhere, they should be like $30 used now, it is well worth the investment.

THIS GUY is speaking the TRUTH.

I have NEVER, EVER, EVER heard a Bose system sound as good as his.
