O yea i forgot about grand nationals, those are sweet as hell, i would love to see a 2012 model and you can find one under 20k and 16k if ur lucky and still have money left over. A used caddillac cts-v wouldnt be bad either or a pontiac g8

Everyone is gona have a opinion on cars and at the end of this loong *** thread........whatever car he choose its gona be cuz it spoke to him. If he buys a damn turbo beetle and throw a porshe motor in then thats his business. We all luv cars and to me i can care less what the next guy drives cuz his character might be priceless..............but i still say a g35 lol

OP wants good fuel economy so a CTS-V and G8's are out, unless the G8 is a V6.

How about a impreza wrx sti, fair on gas, good saftey rating, and can save money. Something have to be sacrificed economy or speed, cheap or expensive, warranty or as-is. All i know is he either goin for a V6 or V4 turbo.......hell go evo and call it a day

I tried twice, but each time I swung into the Scion dealership they were all sold out. They seem to be flying of the lots. Like I said earlier, I think they're a reincarnation of the old Nissan 240SX; RWD, stick-shift, light and well-balanced. I'd love to chuck one around.
Pretty funny to think there's someone who hasn't heard of these cars
Here's a decent review:

Anyways, other than the Vette, there's been some sweet suggestions. There's really too many cars though to consider until you draw a need/want up.
#55
Its that's too muscle for you then AWD sti would be my option.

Yes, Grand National's are sweet, carbon fiber body, V6 turbo, 245 hp @ 4400 rpm, 355 lb-ft @ 2000 rpm.. Not too mention these can be modded cheep with very noticeable gains. The best thing about it is they're rare, they never mass produced it like the Buick Regal (same body).

On a related note... the GN was special, but the T-Type was the real sleeper. I almost bought one used back in 1990. Kind of regret that decision. Although I did own a '86 Cutlass Supreme with a 307 4-bbl, which wasn't too shabby for its time.
Either way, based on the OP's posts in this thread, I highly doubt he's interested in a 25 year old Buick. Just a guess.

Pos? What's wrong with it? Most of the one's i've seen have been pretty good cars. I did drive a basket case one that needed lots of work done to it, but that was expected. Another friend of a friend had one fixed up and mildly modded and it was a great driving car.

Just got this month's Motortrend, and they included the BRZ in their list of top drivers cars, along with the McLaren, the Lambo and the GTR.
That's some impressive company the little car is keeping.

Potential? Sure, as much as any old muscle car has, unless you're talking about a different car than the old 80's one I'm thinking about.

This afternoon I got to see the Scion FRS (6MT) in person, hands-on. Didn't get to test-drive it... just some alone time for first impressions.
The Highs
Very pretty design. The tail end particularly is attractive, but so is the profile, front end, and looking down the hood from the driver's seat. And those seats! Wow, that's a lot of support! Awesome seats. Visibility is excellent, dash layout is acceptable, and leg room was fine. The steering wheel and shifter are 100% spot-on perfect, better than my G37, even. (Honest) The clutch pedal has just enough resistance. Pedal placement is good. Overall, it certainly gives the impression of being a driver's car, just from sitting in it.
The Lows
This car is stupidly low to the ground, making it quite the effort (for these old bones) to get in an out. Headroom is right on the line, with hardly an inch to spare, and I'm only 5'10". While the seats have excellent support, the materials are total crap, and there's no leather option on this car. Trunk space is entirely useless, and the trunk has almost zero interior panels. The brakes are very small, and the paint is entirely average. Overall, the car feels cheap and thin. I bet you there's lots of road noise, but that's just an educated guess.
That's my review, w/o a test drive.

nice review !, you need to sit in a BRZ now. I wonder how different all the points you made are when you compare them.

Here's an excellent comparison I just watched on the new Caddy ATS vs. the new 2.0T BMW 328i. Chuckling just now thinking there are people who've never heard of the ATS.

Just when I think the 5th gen board is dying down, I come on and see 72 replies. Wow.
A lot of the suggestions are cool cars but definitely not what I'm looking for...ie: Grand National (dream car when I was 17 though), Vette and Mustang.
Rochester - Thanks for posting the FRS/BRZ info and ATS review! I am still finding myself going back and forth between these two cars.
The main drawback to the BRZ is the fact that it's a small sports coupe and I tend to drive around clients and co-workers. In all honesty, I would be a little uneasy watching two grown men get in the back of BRZ. I could live with the 'Low's' you mentioned however.
The main drawback to the Cadillac ATS is it's at the top of price range. Realistically, all I would be able to afford is the Base 2.0T Manual and with taxes, titles, etc. I would definitely be over my budget unless I learn some serious negotiating skills (tips or experiences are welcome).
Further on the ATS, reviewers have indicated the 2.0T can hit 60MPH in about 5.4 to 5.6 seconds. With the ability to tune, I'm willing to bet it could hang with a stock VQ37 car. And I'll regrettably admit, I'm really not looking for anything faster than this. Proof: The Acura TSX crossed my mind today.
Appreciate the input, no matter how OT this gets.

Have you considered the Volkswagon CC? The V6 version is priced way out of range, but you can get the 2.0T well under $30K. The interior is refined and beautiful. The exterior is classy and somewhat sporty. The car is extremely well-balanced on the road, and very responsive. The AT version comes with a dual-clutch which makes you giggle while you drive, shifts are just that quick. The 6MT, on the other hand, is kind of loose and un-fun. I drove both versions a couple years ago, and absolutely loved it.
As for being a people-carrier... it will impress.

Not interested in anything with Cadillac name in front of it personally.
Cadillac is known to me as the 'testing puppets' for GM's other stuff. So you have cadillac, a brand used as a test dummy for ideas, then you have Chevy, etc for the actual stuff that worked on the Cadillacs.
Well since Chevy's are junk and that's using the 'tested' stuff, I have 0 interest in the stuff that hasn't even been tested yet, lol.
Just my impressions, that and it's hideous, but that's just me

That said, I've always had a fondness for this:
