01 maxima headers?

Whos running headers on theyre max? I was looking up y pipes and stuff and i see alot of stuff on headers. Are any of u running headers? Is it worth it? What brand is best? Is it illegal? I had a y pipe on my 99 max but no headers. Just curiois if its illegal and if its a big gain in hp

Its illegal in any state that has emissions....sort of. Because you have to use O2 simulators or at the very least, the drilled out defouler trick.

Its fine though not a big deal. Do a SEARCH and youll find out everything you need to know.

Cattman = expensive headers but good hp gains and easy installation
OBX = cheap headers also good hp gains but installation is a little of extra work to make them fit right but for that price I think it's worth it.

I don't have any of them, Search button = nice tool

I like the 3.0. 3.5s have some nice power but the early ones have alot of oil burning issues, and the early 6 speeds have problems. Especially with these cars not getting any younger, the 3.0/5spd is probably about the most reliable 5th gen youll find. I dont think any of the 3.5 guys would disagree with that.

But yeah, If I were going to buy a set, I would go with the OBX. Headers/Y pipe for around $350. Its just not worth it to spend the money on the cattmans IMO. $750 or so for headers for a car thats only worth $5,000 or so doesnt make much sense to me.

I am going with the OBX next time I need to pass DEQ. My pre-cats are about toast and its cheaper to just go headers

Yeah i hear ya man. I like the obx headers too. It comes with the y pipe and everything. I probably will just have someone install them. With my luck il probably break something putting them in lol. My 99 had alot of power with just a y pipe (no headrs) so im anxious to see how this car goes. I took it for a test ride but i was still pretty shook up about the 99 being wrecked so i wasnt really into it much. But i hope to get it this weekend so we will see

You can do it yourself if you have the room, if not get it done. I think I am going to do my motor mounts at the same time. This will all probably have to wait until next summer.
