Opinions...

So out of sheer boredom I have an opinion/conversation question.

I have a 2002 Maxima 6-speed built on 09/01...now as most of you know this means that the car was built with the early style MAF on it. Here's where the opinion question comes in. This car has never had the update done to the ECU and it and still has the original MAF sensor with 309,xxx on it . I have cleaned the MAF once before but I'm just curious if there were any other cars that have had a MAF last this long because that's always been a big issue was replacing the MAF's on the 5.5's. I'm thinking about replacing the MAF with a 2k1 and getting the Nissan update on the ECU because the car runs great but it's just never seemed like it runs as good as it should. Now what I'm pondering is if maybe a new MAF and ECU update would benefit quite a bit. Honestly I don't think mine even has the hesitation between 2500-3000 that the TSB is for but I know for a fact that it is the factory MAF and hasn't had the update because I bought the car off of my dad and he was the original owner. And lastly are there any early 2k2's out there that don't have the update and are making some really good Dyno numbers? I'm just curious and thought it would be interesting to see. Discuss and feel free to flame away if necassary

Yeah man, the MAF is a common problem, but its not a for sure. Leave it alone if it aint broke

You have over 300K on a 5.5? How much oil are you burning.

Not a drop ...it has a 75k engine in it lol

And on another note what I'm really asking is this...how many 2002 5.5's are laying down some good numbers either at the track or on the dyno with the old update and MAF still? I'm just hypothesizing that maybe the reason my car has always seemed to be a little behind the typical bolt-on curve might be because of the only part that I have never replaced on the car...the factory 6N201 MAF. It's just an idea that I thought I might throw out there to see if anyone else still has the old MAF on their 5.5 and how they are running.
