400,000 miles achieved!

The engine itself has never been opened. Same with the tranny. Obviously, it's gone through a couple of clutches. I suppose the biggest job we've had done on it was to replace the steering rack last year.
Otherwise, it's been all the usual maintenance issues.

That's awesome! Mine 2k has 236,000 on it now. No engine or tranny problems...just the usual other stuff. Hopefully my steering rack holds up! I have been running synthetic power steering fluid since almost day 1 when I bought the car new off the lot.

I'm sure I'll be there one day But next year my car is getting special treatment and will have a low mileage 7th gen motor in it...so I won't have QUITE the bragging rights that you do....but my bragging rights will be more fun

Congrats. I at 211,000 on my 2000 automatic SE but its currently sitting in my driveway with a bad transmission that I'm working on replacing. The engine is still great though, so my plan is to put a used tranny in and keep driving. I'd love to get to 400,000 some day on it.
Congratulations and keep us updated on the mileage b

Definitely deserve a congratulations on that. Certainly a well maintained maxima goes a long way like that one.
Crazy because my 4th gen is at 186,xxx & 3rd gen is at 237,xxx and your 5th has almost the same amount as both of them combined. lol

The engine started life getting full synthetics. If I recall, it was usually either Syntec or Valvoline (whichever was priced better) 5w30, and a Pure1 filter with each change, usually between 6000 and 8000 miles. Somewhere after it hit 100,000 miles or so, I went back and forth between MaxLife full-synth and MaxLife synth-blend. By the 200,000 mark, it was getting the synth-blend regularly, mostly for cost reasons. And always a Pure-1 filter.
I've always done my own oil changes, and I've learned to praise Nissan's designers for making this Maxima so easy to do the oil service. I also own a VW GTi, and I can't tell you what kind of special hell changing the oil on that thing is.
Since it's a manual tranny, I haven't really done anything with it specifically, lube-wise.
