VQ35DE in 01 SE

Hey guys, I read up on some stuff about the Nissan Maxima and its engine, and found out that since 2002 they have been putting a VQ35DE in all maximas. Thats a 3.5L with anywhere between 255 HP and ~250 trq in a 2002, to a 280hp through 2008 and so on through until 2013 and they still put a VQ35DE in every single one just I don't know what they did to get the extra hp (enlighten us if you know) and if it changed its size and shape drastically?

My question is can I take any VQ35DE and swap it into a 2001 SE since the body styles are the same as on a 02 or 03 maxima and they have them? I would think it would be ok to do that, so long as you have the right ecu, axles, driveshaft, harness, mounts etc. has anyone done it? is is pretty easy? just wondering since I will need to change my clutch, and do a full 100k tune up on my car in the near future which requires taking out the motor anyway I just wanted to know if a swap for a newer motor is possible?

Yup, its basically the same as swapping a vq35 into a 4th gen (95-99). Check out the all motor section and there is a bunch of 3.5 swap threads in there.

Clearly didn't listen to schmellyfart, you have some reading/searching in the 4th gen forums to do.

You mean install 3.0 timing onto the 3.5 aka VVT delete? What if you are using 02/03 ecu?
