Speed Sensor

I have an 02 Max and I needed to replace the speed sensor because of the 1574 code. Both of them were replaced. However, the one on the top, closest to the engine had oil on it. Is there supposed to be oil on that sensor? It cannot possibly pick up the speed if it is soiled with oil. What could be causing this problem?

I think it is normal. Mine had oil on it too when I replaced mine 4 years ago. I checked it right after and still had oil on it. I haven't had a problem since. This was the revolution speed sensor. The connections are supposed to be sealed as to protect them. Just a thought... I dont know if this helps
