Its going to be a long weekend...

First off, thanks to everyone populating this forum for all your contributions so far. I think I am fairly well prepared to do all of the repairs on my girlfriends 00 I30 this weekend, and that's largely a result of all the helpful info here. Saturday I will be:

Replacing wheel hubs and wheel bearings ( sounds like she drives a 747 right now)

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ml#post7395692

Replacing power steering hose (leaks about a qt EOD)
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...hose-pics.html

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...hose-02-a.html

Replacing VSS ( don't remember code now but searching and scan tool confirmed )
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...peedo-cel.html

I would love to hear any additional advice you gentlemen may have, and sincerely appreciate any additional links of information you might have to make this easier. And hopefully, this thread will help somebody else as I have grouped together some helpful info and links on what appear to be very common issues with these cars

I think I'd clear the schedule for Sunday as well. None of these are very difficult by themselves, but all of them together will be difficult to complete in one day in my opinion. It's that they are different spots on the car so you'll have to tear down one spot, fix the issue, put it all back together and test it. Then if it's good you have to move onto the other one. You're almost certainly going to run into situations where you spend 2 hrs trying to get one thing apart. It happens to the best of us.

Thanks Andrew.

This ain't my first rodeo and murphy's law always hits me hard! So yes, Sunday is clear. But I am hoping like hell a couple weeks of prep and research will help.

I just swapped motors in an 04 trailblazer and that was f**king terrible. Hopefully this is easy by comparison! I figured it would be somewhat easier to access the PS hose while the wheels and suspension are off/dissembled. And the VSS doesn't seem tough at all.

Just my two cents, rather than removing the hub/bearings, why not hit up a pull your own junkyard and grab two steering knuckles? It would be far easier/cheaper to replace like that and most places warranty their items.

I'm sure these job will be much easier than the trail blazer. If you have someone that can help you twist the powersteering hose from the top, while you bolt it back in place that will save you some time...that took me the longest when changing the hose on mine. Very straight forward though, just remember the copper washers and use an OEM hose, the advance/aftermarket hoses tend to whine. I actually called up a local dealer and asked him to match the online price i found with shipping, it was 177 if IIRC after taxes.

jtm - I purchased the replacement hubs and bearings months ago in preparation, figured it would be easier just to go ahead and do it. Are you suggesting I go get the new ones swapped into some jyard spindles or that I just use the jyard pieces to run on?

Thanks guys! May skip the wheel hubs for today since I got a late start

are you simply going by the number on it or is it actually different? Could just be an updated part number
