5th Gen SRI

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a intake on my car. I don't feel like spending 200 bucks for one. So what I'm wondering is if I order this intake off ebay and just buy a K&N Filter or the dry flow filter will it do the same?!

So you have a 5.5 gen(2002-2003) not a 5th gen(2000-2001)?

As in the Spectre? Or whatever it's called.. I was thinking of just using the stock Maf adding a tube and putting on a filter would that work?

Well that says 04-08 does it even fit the 5.5? Our battery might be in the way and if not then where does the maf sensor go? Does the 5.5 maf sensor fit into the housing of a 6th gen maf sensor? Cause that intake is designed for a 6th gen and will use the 6th gen maf specs if its integrated into the design

Have your searched on the pros and cons or SRI vs CAI vs stock? Kinda wonder why you want to go with an SRI

Granted I have a 5th gen, but this concept can be applied to the 5.5 gen.

You need a MAF adapter plate and a filter on the end, but that's it. I mounted my air temp sensor to the filter for the time being until I figure out the final spot.

You can use the rest of your intake parts to make a short ram intake.

Notice how the actual sensor part is shaped differently, this means you cannot install ur 5.5 gen sensor into an intake designed for the 6th gen, even though the intake might physically fit the proper installation of the maf sensor wont. I dont know if there is a work around for this but i hope someone might have an idea cuz i love the way the takeda intake for the 6th gen looks and it converts from CAI or SRI totally love it.

That's what I've got. Seems to work, but I can't help but wonder if more bottom end could be achieved by putting the stock intake back on. Come spring, I think I'll try and see.

I've got plenty of bottom end using spacers, an Hybrid SRI, Headers, Hi Flow Cat, and 3" Catback

my 03 max has a sri and i bought it with it and i think it was custom made cause it looks like its using the stock maf it looks similar to yours cmax03 but it doesnt have that plastic thing from what im guessing is a part from the stock intake which i got the stock intake from the previous owner its using a spectre filter and i want to change the filter to something else plus the filter seems a lil dirty and i dont think i can get an apexi cause i heard those can get wet and i have a cf evo style hood so my intake gets wet alot

Looks like a Berk wannabe.....Maybe an eBay special or a collection of Bay parts to make this intake! Looks like you 've got electronic suspension with those devices on top your strut towers!

yea spock its a tien dampener system i can soften and harden the coilovers from inside, the guy paid 2k for the suspension and my intake looks like its using a stock maf housing wierd the guy said it was aem but i think he forgot what it really was i honestly doubt this is a ebay one tho cause this guy spent alot of money on it. and he put high quality stuff into it so why a ebay intake? he put SSBC big brakes, tvs, navi head unit, subs, 2 amps, tien coilovers, dampeners, cf hood, slotted rotors, staggered wheels, it has some side mirrors from japan it automatically goes up like bmws he siad he paid 800 for it and it has a bodykit on it but i want to take it off but he paid 700 for the lights imported from austraila, and yea it has a few more stuff in it i can think of but this guy didnt play when it came to money and his car.

Unlike the AEM 6" intake there's no element support fixture hampering the flow at the filter edge.....Also the R2C element is less restrictive than the AEM....Using a JWT Popcharger with a R2c Filter is an awesome setup!!!! That setup you have may be a Fuji filter and generic everything else.....

Here's the 3" vs (2) 6" filters.....

That intake is a part together some of this and some of that aka HMI .....AEM doesn't make a Intake for our years 00-03, years 04+ I think so.....

Oh yeah and pics of them headlights.

That's a homemade MAF adapter, Spectre silicone couplings, Samco silicone couplings, and that air filter looks like a Fuji air filter.....Anyway you can make your own...there are some JWT Popchargers for sale in the classifieds, you can get pretty nice MAF adapter off ebay for cheap low prices....but you can make your own intake....I would go 6" airfilter over a popcharger at least.....

Yes, because it's a 6" CNC profiled bellmouth made to fit the flow patterns of that particular Maxima.....with along with the 6" air filter you'll notice the constant pull at WOT with no flat spots......as for part throttle sensitivity it's good but off the chain when combined with spacers....I covered it all I think......

o cool idk headers look all the same ;( but yea and
funny tunermax idc if you think my car is ugly lol i bought the car like that and when i bought it i had intentions to swap the grill, and bodykit and i was gonna go get a oem cf hood but ima leave the hood since im not willing to dish out 800 bucks for a new one. u would think someone wouldnt buy a car if it had stuff they didnt like on it but there was alot i like on it like the full bolt ons and suspension and the bumper is minor i can always take it off and grill.

I would buy a car in rough shape or with ugly mods that could easily be reversed if the price was exponentially low, sure, i've actually done the same.

But I'd drive without a grill before I drove with that. I'd fix it before any other mods.
And I'd never have the ***** to post a picture of that monstrosity on here. So I guess you have watermelon nuts!

thanks man i didnt want to put up pics cause i know how people on the org how they hate body kits on the max, billet grills ect. but i was like what the heck! it dont matter to much lol. so far i changed out the euro lights that were on the car to stock 00-01 se tails my next is to do the bumper then the grill. im trying to find a used kt3 bumper first if not id get a used get paint from paint scratch and then mount it up and then still keep a eye out for a mint used sterling mist bumper. (im a college student on a budget). even tho i can admit my car is ugly no knock on the past owner he was very cool and knew alot about cars this was just his taste.

i also took off 6 GT-R badges off the car 3 nismo badges the next day aftrer i bought the car. (i put a gt-r badge from the car onto my laptop i think it looks cooler there hehe.) the eyelids on the car i did myself tho so if you dont like that, thats on me i like it. there was 1 sorona eyelid in the trunk but the other fell off i guess and the back has bodykit ima leave that cause i actually dig it. and the car has alot of tasteful mods done to it. i was planning on buying a stock 2003 se 6 speed and just doing springs, intake, exhaust, headers and a lip kit and call it a day but the prices were like 4-8k in nj for one with 70-125k miles and i got mine with 79k miles with intake headers exhaust samco hoses coilovers, stainless steel brake company big brake kit, subs, amps, tvs, navi in dash, boost guages, tints, cf hood, electronic dampeners, bmw functional mirrors (folds up by itself and has lights on the bottom) plus a few more i cant remember off my head but also mods i didnt like, such as the body kit, the grill, the euro tails, the gtr and nismo badges, the 19inch staggered wheels (very cool wheels for a car like 350z but not my style on my max) and i also paid a lil extra for 2005 max wheels and a kinitex intake manifold
