As long as the air is cool/cold you shouldn't have any pinging problems.
But I can't say if it'll make some knock thereby causing the ecu to retard timing.

Worst case is that power and gas mileage goes down some. If it was summer you might have more issues.
It's also dependent on what motor you have.

Running 87 for a little while isn't going to hurt the car.

The car is designed to accept 87 in a pinch (say you get stuck somewhere, and some podunk gas station is around that ONLY sells 87). You'll just notice a loss in gas mileage, and a decrease in performance.

They're rationing gas in NYC...? Why? Because of the storm?

You can always add in some octane booster, or other fuel system cleaners. They'll help the gasoline burn cleaner which is what the higher octane fuel does anyway.

had this same problem most station in nj was only pumping regular but my car did fine with it no knock but it seem like it burn faster. if the line are crazy in NY why dont you take a trip to NJ its plenty gas station soon you get out tunnel you dont have to drive all the way into nj and most gas station is back to normal and pumping premium.
