Another intake question
Another intake question
I have some free cash, about $400.00. Should I go with the Frankencar Intake which costs $140, or the Place CAI which is $210? I have a 2K1 manual, are these intakes interchangeable with a 2K2? I probably will not buy a Y-pipe yet, not until I test drive a 2K2 with HLSD. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I "think" if you have a short ram, you will have more highend power due to less turbulence. But if you have a long ram such as those by Place Racing, you will have good amount low end because you are drawing in cool air.
If you live in area with 60-70f wether, get the Franken for its good price. But if you get the Place Racing intake, you will enjoy the best of both worlds, low end torque and high end gain. Plus proven better fuel economy.

WHAT? Where'd you hear better fuel economy?
You will in all likely hood not get better gas mileage and I will predict your mileage will fall ... why? Because you are going to love the sound of the PRCAI at full throttle and you are just going to keep flooring it to hear that money well spent!!!
Seriously ... I think you will really like the PRCAI, but I don't know about the gas mileage. It would seem to make sense, but in the real world, you are going to seriously be on the gas a whole lot more so the mileage will be reduced from hard driving (which is a great reason to lose mileage
)
What about Nismo?
any info if they will have a nice intake? As it stands it looks like I will order the CAI. My milage is allready pretty bad, do to the fact I have a manual and a heavy foot. Is the Place CAI interchangeable on the 2K2? Thanks for the info so far.

It looks close to fitting, but PR is looking for a 2k2 for prototyping.

It all depends on the financing
I do want a 2K2, I like most have been waiting for the HLSD's to arrive before I decide. I would have loved to have gotten Nissan's most recent rate of 3.9 for 60 months. Unfortunately that was for in stock only, I couldn't order one for that rate. Still hoping Nissan continues to promote the Altima and the demand for the Max drops, then they might offer a nice incentive package again and I can pickup an HLSD 6 spd. On my 2K1 unless I have a near perfect feathered launch it usually hops and torque steers. Most have said new tires will solve my problem, but that takes me back to my dilema on sinking money into a car I might get rid of.
