2000 nissan maxima se 3.0L
Recently ive had my flex pipe go in my exhaust and was going to just replace it with an oem part but i got to thinking about replacing the full exhaust.
BUT
I dont want to get a stupidly loud one. I like the note of the stock exhaust but i want to give it just a tad more of a throatier sound. Does anyone have any they installed that wasnt obnoxious but sounds just right? (And not $$$)
Cheers

Full Megan without headers.

Megan b pipe with OEM axle back if you have headers.

Complete exhaust system from Y-pipe to muffler tip. Includes Cattman Y-pipe, high-flow catalytic convertor, and Cattman Cattback Exhaust, and all installation hardware. Completely integrated system provides the best sound, most power, legendary durability and a substantial savings. 1125.00 for all sounds good

Resonators will make it sound good so make sure you get those and a good muffler will sound good. http://www.brmexhaust.com/00-03-nissan-maxima I have an apexi world speed cat-back which was cut up and added resonators, sounds so good I don't want to loose it but I want a 3" so I need to figure something out. Gut out your stock pre-cats and get a warpspeed y-pipe.
I just had to look this up but this is the best option: http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...EXHAUST/Detail and then you get to buy your own resonator(s) and muffler. Thanks to forum members like CMax03 we have detailed info on what works and what doesn't especially in the sound department.

check YouTube and compare different cat-back exhaust sounds cause one may think Megan or cattman is not loud but other might think its too loud. i have Megan and warpspeed y pipe N gutted cat and its loud especially at high rpm, when i first install it was massive loud but after couple month it kinda tone down a lil bit or maybe because i got used to it but go YouTube plenty videos there.

In my opinion, Megans are quite a lot louder than stock. If you want more throat, Maybe do some form of CAI plenty of threads here on that. I did the GAB mod, it gave the Max just the right sound- More growl and it kept it moderately quiet. Just a hair louder than stock. It wont give you the HP the full exhaust will give you, But, It's free..And sounds to me like its just the sound you're looking for

You got to love those Ebay specials, much better than dropping $800 at Cattman.

I love my cattman, so worth the money. Yes a little loud on the drone side, but hopefully that is fixed with the new b pipe

OP Could also just get a Y pipe and call it a day. Keep the same muffler so same volume of sound, and a Warpspeed Y pipe is only 200 bucks, giving a bit more throatier sound while keeping the regular muffler.

Catback systems (megan, ebay, srs...) are ok, but they ALL have that gawd damned coffee can exhaust tip that just screams "pull over teh rice boi" to the

When I added a Cattman Y to my otherwise stock exhaust (aftermarket muffler installed already for months) it added a bit of "growl" at idle...a bit more volume in-cabin, and a bit more volume when whomping on teh pedal. But nothing bad at all.

Although, the tips don't look like they are equal length, that might bug me.

The tips ARE offset. But <IMHO> it looks OK on the car, since they match the contour of the bumper. Decide for yourself.

Your right. I do like those tips, they fit the bumper better than I thought they would. Too bad I bought my EVO2 catback already, it has the potato launcher attached.
