I have a Curtis hitch on my 2002 Maxima with stock exhaust. Unfortunately the muffler has started to rattle against it while driving. It seems to clear just fine when sitting still. Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it?

 

not sure about the hitch, but try using metal hose clamps around the rubber hamger mount- clamp it tight for less wiggle

 

The hitch goes over the top of my muffer. If I clap down the hangers, won't it just pull my muffler up into the hitch?

 

I have a Hidden Hitch installed on my car and it doesn't touch the muffler. However, when I did swap out to Bosal after market muffler, the muffler piping would touch the torsion beam going over bumps. It was fixed by angling the muffler down allowing the piping to clear the rear beam. As a result my muffler tip doesn't sit flush with the bumper, but oh well, I rather have that than a rattle at every bump.

 

Yeah, it's quite annoying. I may just take it to the muffler shop and see what they can do with it.
