99 I30 steering wheel in 2000 Max
So, I thought it would be cool to replace my steering wheel, since mine's pretty trashed (from previous owner). I picked up a rather decent one at the junkyard. The problem is that mine only has the right-side cruise control and the I30 one has the dual controls. I also grabbed the round thingy with the right plugs to plug it all in. When I got everything together and tried to plug the fuses back in, the horn started going off! Obviously, I didn't try to plug in the air bag fuse! Lol! Anyway, I did some searching and didn't come up with much.
has anyone done this that can tell me which wires to splice? I don't have a computer, I do everything on my dumbphone, so it's a little difficult to look up fsm's...
I also tried putting in the *****in I30 cluster... all the gauges worked, but I have no backlight and none of the cluster lights come on, so I need help in that dept also. I was reading that the I30 backlight bulb has a tendency to blow/burn out. Thanks y'all!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

I looked at the schematics for the 2 cars and the horn uses the same pin numbers in the spiral cable connector. So it seems like it should work without any problems. The way the horn works is that the switch in the steering wheel grounds out the energizing coil of the horn relay. Maybe the steering wheel has a bad horn switch or maybe you some how pinched a wire.
As for the instrument cluster, I don't know. From what I have read, Nissan seems to keep changing those things and the connections are not always the same. But that's me guessing.
