2000 Maxima headlight problem.
2000 Maxima headlight problem.
Hello all, I've been reading this forum for a long time since I bought my 2000 Maxima back in August of 2012. I have a problem and hopefully one of you can give me a hint as to where to look before I take it to my mechanic. For about a little while now I've been noticing that when I use my left turn indicator, the headlights will do a quick "blink". It will also do this when it's resetting to the neutral position. If I set it to the right, I don't notice this blink at all, although it will blink when returning to the neutral position.
The best way I can describe this "blink" is a quick off an on. It happens extremely quickly, it's VERY sporadic. It doesn't happen constantly, sometimes it will happen every time I go to make a left turn or when resetting from a right turn, sometimes it won't at all. I should note that the headlights are HIDs.
I'm not very car literate, so please bear with me on this, but if I could save money before I take it to my mechanic then that would be great. I've been thinking that the indicator switch is going bad. Any thoughts? Thanks!

interesting... i have the exact same problem with my car... same year 2000 and it only happens on the left turn signal is on... i have tried manually to put the stalk back in center position very very slowly and its fine, no blink... my next step will be to take the stalk apart and clean/re grease it but I am not entirely sure that's where the problem is... i am thinking it might be a ground getting bad or something but haven't checked all of them yet..

LUDI are you running aftermarket HID's also?
OP> Are you running aftermarket HID's or the 5.5 gen lights?
If you're running aftermarket HID's I'd be curious how they're wired in, whether using a relay or not.
If they're wired properly, this problem is probably a bad combination stalk. Fairly uncommon for them to fail on a Nissan, so I'd check the HID side first, always check the aftermarket/modified stuff first.
