Sorry, another Ebay taillights thread, these are listed all over ebay. I was thinking about picking up a pair of 00-01 taillights for my max and I came across these. They are for the 5th gen, but looks like the 5.5 gen with a black housing instead of the chrome. Just curious if anyone here bought a pair and if they are just regular 5th gen taillights or something different.

No, Nissan played games with the colors. 2000 had all red tails except for the SE, which had the black. I think Nissan realized that the all red looked bad and changed then to clear for 2001, keeping the black for the SE. Nissan again changed the color for 2002 and dropped the black. The majority of the people seem to like the black, me included, but there are some color cars where the all red look good and some colors where the sliver look good.

 

id buy a used set thats what i did for 60 bucks off craigslist for some se tails

 

get the 00-01 se lights, they look a lot better.

 

Those don't look too bad. You could probably find some used SE tails for cheaper though.

 

You can also find some SE taillight clones on eBay. They look damn close to the originals, and will be around the price of the tails in your link if you look hard enough.

 

I'm going to get a pair of the black ones, I was just curious about these on Ebay because they look like the 5.5 ones, with a clear lens, but with a black housing inside instead of the chrome. Maybe it's just the pic, but it would be cool if it did have the AE look, black housing with a clear outer lens cover.
