Coilovers

Coilovers
I am going to be in the market for a set of coilovers soon. I'm still unsure as to which ones I should buy. I was looking at the Tein SS but have read that they may no longer be available. My goal is to lower my Max enough to fill in the DEAD CAT HOLE but not so low as to cause problems. I also would still like a comfortable ride when I'm done. I'm currently riding on factory 17's and have no intention of changing them (although 16" snow tires may be in the future).
What coilovers do you recommend and where is a good place to purchase them?

I always search before I post. Now what I've found is the best seem to be Teins or BCs (or JICs but they just seem overpriced). I also found a thread that mentioned the Tein SS has been discontinued. Is this true? Some sites still list them for sale? Also, in all of my searching I did not find one thread that mentioned a reputable retailer for coilovers. Who have you purchased from and who do you recommend?

I'm still torn between the Tein's and the BC's. I read the TDMI group buy thread, and I'm intrigued, but I'm also weary of an untested and relatively unknown product.
Not finding much infor on the SA's for the Maxima. It appears it's just an upgrade for the SS? Do you know of a reputable website I could purchase them or the BC-BR's from? I'll use eBay if I have to but I prefer a shop with a good history if one's available.

i would get something that people already trust like tiens, BC, JIC i heard D2 is very comfortable i am happy with my tien ss with elec dampeners

If all you want is to fill the dead cats, you can do it without coilovers. Tokiko Illuminas/Eibach springs do a very good job.

i would get the Tein SA if the opportunity came around, it's just a updated Tein SS and from what I've heard you can't go wrong with Tein quality... Just don't get them from JM Auto Racing

I think I'm going to go with BC. I like that they come with mounts and camber plates. They are also cheaper and still have great reviews. If it came with mounts and camber plates for the same $200 more I would probably go for it. And this way I'll be able to keep the factory suspension intact in case I ever need to put it back on the car.

I went with the d2 rs coilovers for about $850. had them for about 3 months. nice ride quality and adjustability. easy install and came with camber adjustment. can only drop about an inch or two with still having a perfect alignment

Wow this thread is still going? I know back in the Irish era this would have been locked for sure. Mainly because we are hearing the same information we have been hearing on coilover threads for years now. D2, Tein, BC Racing and I'm Megans will be chiming in soon. The only set up that was truly unique and engineered for the 5th gen Maxima was the Cattman/Progress and that has not been sold for 5 years now.

If you don't plan to track the car, you will be happy with Megans, D2, Tein's, or BC's, IMO.
The better of them are the teins or BC's.
The most reliable are no doubt the Teins, IMO, and BC would likely be a fairly close second.
If you live in a climate that sees salt or winter, you might want to keep that in consideration, I did a lot of research and went with teins because of that precise fact. I got mine Second hand, they had about 9000 miles on them IIRC when I sold them to another member here, Merovi. I'm sure he has put at least a few more thousand on there since then and i haven't heard him cite a single issue.
BC's have very few complaints, for a budget coilover, that's incredible, If I didn't get a decent deal on a used tein SS, I'd have bought BC's. If you call them directly you should be able to get a full set shipped under $1000
