few problems with my 02

got couple of problems with my 02:

1. Loud clunk sound coming form the engine bay when starting up in the morning.

2. excessive wind noise coming from both rear windows. i know there is a TSB on this issue for 00 and 01s. not sure if they apply to 02s.

3. Weird smell coming form AC, not sure if this is the old "rotten egg" problem cuz i never smell an rotten egg before

i am gonna have my dealer check them out when i am in for the first oil change at 1k, now i just wanna know if any of my fellow 5th gen owners experienced these problems before? oh yeah, currently i have 978 miles.

later.

1. I get the loud clunking sound in the morning or when ever the car is cold.

2. I get the excessive wind noise as well. I assume it is due to our high dragg coefficent.

3. Mine smells like pine cone air freshener. Maybe you got gas!hehe
Seriously I would get that looked at might be something dead in there.

I have 5K mil on my Max

I've noticed...

that with a new micro-airfilter that exhaust smells nasty. Its a charcoal filter and in traffic, it gets all but the really funky smell of exhaust, like it leaves the most offensive element in the air.. Eventually my newest filter stopped doing that after about 2 weeks tho.. not sure if thats your prob or not. its more acute in the cold I've noticed.

1. have u ever had dealers check out the clunking sound? i mean i really wanna know wat's wrong with my car.

2. i read the tsb on this issue for 00-01s, it seems to be caused by too much clearance between the rear window and the rubber when closed. this might be the same for our cars.

3. yep, that's the smell!

None of those problems. I've got grey blotches on my black paint (being repainted as I type), the passenger front door is harder to close than the others and the trip computer doesn't agree with the speedo. The Bose sub can be driven to rattling with select tracks from the Twin Peaks soundtrack, but other than that it's fine.

At 120kmh on the speedo (cruise control on) I'll reset the Avg Speed and it reads 115 kmh. No big deal, but I've asked the dealer to check it out. I've measured distance and divided by time (odometer and time off the trip computer) and that number agrees with the trip computer 115kmh. If the odometer is wrong then my fuel economy isn't quite as good as I thought, but my car will "age" slower

Won't know until the end of next week. The body shop wants another week to finish sanding out the blotches and repaint the places where they go through the clear

After that the dealer will tackle the other problems. I'll post the results.

The only thing that i found so far is on page HA-16, it says that a clanking noise may be heard during refrigerate start up. I am going to keep searching for more information.
