Which wire? the power?

You should never just hook a wire back up. Always unplug the battery (sometimes you can just disconnect the head unit). Sounds like you blew your head unit.

Disconnecting the battery is not necessary. If you shorted something out by connecting that wire back, then it would have still shorted out once the battery was reconnected.

My advice to you is to check ALL your fuses in the car (under the dash, and under the hood). Check them ALL. Doesn't matter if they're related to audio or not.

Decks don't just blow up like that...and even if it did, chances are its internal amp would be shot...but it would still turn on, and light up.

After you check your fuses. Take a volt meter and make sure you're actually getting power to your head unit. When I bought my max I found out my ignition wire (to the head unit) was shorted out (the guy had 2 subs in the back). So it could be related?

Black is ground
Yellow is power
Red is ignition
(usually)

i know it sounds weird but check the mirror fuse. when my kenwood wouldnt turn on that was the fuse that went out. There is also a radio fuse inside the engine compartment near the battery good luck.
