Installed a Warpspeed Y-pipe, not impressed with quality
Not sure it was the PB that made you puke. I noticed last time I had to do a lot of work under my car on jack stands, something about being on your back in a confined space using tools makes you light headed and nauseous. I had to take several breaks for the same reason.....to get air. Might be something to do with blood flow in a confined space?
You have a good point and it might have played a part but that PB Blaster does not agree with me. Last fall I replaced both axles on my other car and I spent a lot of time replacing the axle seals. The left side took me a couple of hours and I didn't have that problem. Some people can't deal with certain things is all I can say.
I have had good luck/results with my 4th gen Warpspeed Y pipe, went on like a glove and made alot more power. But now with the stricter emissions of the 2000 Cali Spec I have now I dont know if its worth the headache.
When you put a Y-pipe on, you eliminate the pre-cats. The pre-cats reduce emissions after a cold start for a fairly short amount of time while the main catalytic converter heats up. When the main cat has heated up, the pre-cats don't make any difference.
Since I don't live in Jersey, you will need to find out the exact testing procedure used. If they do a cold start emissions test, you will probably fail without the pre-cats. But if Jersey doesn't do a cold start test, just make sure the engine (and cat) all warmed up.

The exhaust on this car is different from my old 96,with more 02 sensors and if im not mistaken one of the precats have moved to the exhaust manifold while the other is still built on the y pipe.
It sounds like your 96 was a Fed spec car. On Cali cars, the left pre-cat (radiator side) stays on the car. The Y-pipe does not connect to the exhaust manifold on the left side.

but someone, I think NMex posted a link on one of my threads that showed the loss of HP from having the bank 2 precat on was only like 1-2 hp vs the fed spec Y pipe.i think it still gained like 10whp....Cali version that is....Thats pretty cheap HP on an NA car. The sound from what I can hear in the videos really makes the maxima sound dangerous..lol. Not to mention no SAFC tune yet......ypipe is worth it still on a 2000 cali spec. Its my next move.
I have the stainless on mine, no issues whatsoever 3 years. Mine was packed in a nice cardboard box with lots of packing peanuts. It did take a while to get (almost a month) but that was only cause i had to wait for their stainless steel supploer to come through
Mine took about 15 days to get to my door but I know it was going to take some time since it says they were made to order. Luckly I have a 2000 fed spec maxima so both of my precats are removed with the y-pipe.
I must have just been unlucky. Because my Warpspeed pipe took 7-8 weeks to arrive at my house. But that's the only negative thing I can say about Warpspeed, because fitment was perfect, and it sounds amazing, and the power gains were very noticeable.
amateur hour
Blaming Warpspeed for this is laughable. If you can't center the y pipe with the cat opening, why should anyone believe that the flanges that mate to the manifolds was off?
The gasket looks a little funny from not being properly positioned the first time. The metal crush ring also shows the mis-positioning. At the 10 o'clock position, it is shiny. At the 4 o'clock position, it is covered with soot from being in the exhaust stream. If you look at the left stud hole, you can see the impression of the oblong flange opening extending onto the metal crush ring, my leak.[/QUOTE]

As for the exhaust manifold connections, to take the position that a product could not possibly be made wrong or be defective is pretty naive.
I expect that when a company provides a product that is supposed to be an exact fit, there will not be a half inch of play at the connection as there was at the catalytic converter connection.

I was alittle worried reading this thread since i already ordered my warpspeed y pipe last month. But it arrived on Friday so i installed it this weekend and the fitment was perfect no leaks at all at the manifold flanges or the cat.
Now i also ordered a new 2.5" magnaflow catalytic convertor off of the that site also when i ordered the y-pipe so maybe that has something to do with the good fitment to the convertor not sure.
I drove it about 100 miles on Saturday and then put it back on the lift to check for leaks but everything was good to go.
Also this was for a 2000 fed spec maxima.
I didn't think these pipe were hand made but maybe they are and thats whats causing some people to have issues and the rest have perfect fits. Also as for how it was packaged it was in a black plastic bag but it was also wrapped in bubble wrap in the box.

just thought id add to the list of people that have a warpspeed y-pipe (as my only performance mod) and had no problems with it whatsoever.
only problem i had was snapping a rusted bolt on the old y-pipe. other than that, quality was good and definitely beats spending an xtra $200 just to have a "cattman" product.
oh and i just passed smog too without any problems.

So you have the warpspeed y-pipe or the full cattman headers.
does anyone have any expereince with the WS Y-pipe not fitting with a LTB Stage II
i can't believe i have a shop telling me they cannot get my LTB back on after they installed the y-pipe..............
i am at loss of words.
should i let go of the LTB untill i waste more time on trying a different shop to re-isntall the new y-pipe to work with the LTB?, or find a junk yard y-pipe (oem), and get them to put that on to get my LTB on?
the end goal is to have my LTB.
and mind you these two things shouldn't have an issue fitting according to the LTB website!

I am looking for a Y-pipe for my fed-spec 1996 Maxima, is the cattman still available? Otherwise, anyone selling any compatible y-pipe around here? My flex section is leaking and I would rather do the mod than take it to a muffler shop to have a 20 year old pipe rewelded for 60-80 bucks.
