I don't want to laugh but I can't help myself... If it's an A/T it will be on the left side of the car, the same side of the transmission. If it's a manual I wouldn't suggest you change it yourself. The car needs to be on a hoist so that you can unscrew the M/T drain plug because there's no other way to add oil if your measurements are wrong.

The pan is next to the front driver side tire, look for a 19mm bolt toward the back of the pan. I just did mine last week, didn't even need to jack the car to get access to it. I also drained the torque converter using the return line from the radiator, but if you want to keep it simple, just remove the drain bolt and refill same amount.

On the bottom toward the back (firewall) side of the pan, but it's recessed a little bit, but easy to see once you're on the ground.

Yes and yes.

Was color of drained fluid ok? Did you use Matic-D for refill?

the fluid was cherry looking, and I use castrol import tranny fluid for nissan, I check the level before changing it, it was below the hot level, so I drain it. I say about a quart came out, so I put like 4 quarts in there I check the level and it is way above the hot level. so now is when I drive like over and half an hour the rpms jump up to 4 and im only doing like 40
mph. do I need to drain it to get to the hot level, so it can shift right?????

Apparently all you had to do was refill to the proper level.
Assuming you correctly checked the level the first time around and a quart was ALL it came out when you drained it, I'd drain at least a quart or two, then check the level as stated in the manual. At that point, if needed, add a little at a time, re-checking the dipstick until you get the right level.

WTF?? Only a QUART came out on a drain?? You should get ~4 quarts, so either you were 3 quarts low before you started or you meant to say a gallon came out. Something sounds very wrong about this. Actually, I doubt the system could even hold 3 extra quarts, the stuff wouldn't even have poured into the fill tube.

it took all 4 quarts, but now its rpms is revs high when im driving so I have to drain some of it out, cause the level is way over the hot and cold mark. again if I drain will it stop the rpms jumping up..

If the level is way over the full mark, You need to bring that fluid to the proper level ASAP.

There's no way to find out for sure until you do it.

But why would you put 4 quarts in if you only got 1 quart out, that makes no sense? The problem with overfilling, especially overfilling by a lot, is the system pressure will be very high, and that could cause the problems you see, or maybe you'll blow a gasket if you keep driving it.

I'm thinking high pressure could breach an old ATF pan gasket, but if that happened you'd see a leak on the ground.

A big overfill could also cause fluid to come back up and spill out the fill tube, and if it falls on to something hot like a heat shield, then you'll get smoke, maybe even a nice little fire.
