First thing you do to save yourself an engine, a lot of money, and a bunch of headaches is gut your precats. Now. Then worry bout everything else later.

Use the search button. Figure out what you want, then use the search button to map out a plan.

Advanced forums help a lo, like Cj said. Do you want pressure or NA?

Handling helps too, and first and foremost, get the car running tip to before modding.

The car has 3 catalytic converters. 2 that are called PREcats because they go before the main catalytic converter. The front precats on the 5.5 Maxima's have the tendency to break apart and the back pressure can cause those broken pieces to go back up to the engine and fry your piston rings. For that reason, they should be taken care of as soon as possible. The cheapest and easiest way to take care of them is to just gut them for the time being. If you have some money to spare, I'd look into getting some headers cause that completely eliminates them.

The gutting process for the front precats is as simple as taking the bolts off and taking a spoon to the ****. The rear precats aren't as simple, but they're doable. Get to them asap or they could cost you an engine. They cost me mine. Wish someone had told me bout them they way I'm telling you now. Woulda saved 6 months of my time and a thousand dollars.

Shiftice has great for info on lowering springs. I'm personally on DNA Motoring springs with Illuminas and I love them. 2" front, 1.75"rear. Under $100 for the springs. I recently started working on my Max and I started with (as far as HP gains, in this order): SRI, NWP spacers, NWP BOP (not installed yet), and currently looking into exhaust setups (thinking OBX headers, ??? Y-pipe, and SR-S catback). This doesn't include the FSTB I just ordered, the BBK I started gathering parts for, the new wheels in transit, Stillen lips??? ... Agh!!!!!

Welcome to the endless money pit called the Maxima.

Start with a block off plate and spacers. They are relatively easy to install and inexpensive. After that, move to the intake and headers/ exhaust. The short throw shifter mod is also amazing if you have a 6 speed. I'd also recommend a good suspension set up- the driving differences are amazing.

my advice is save and go FI if you want performance. You will spend the same $$$ going full bolt on as you would FI but have 125 less horsepower. but then what will you do with a 400whp fwd sedan?
