Oh boy, run in with last gen RX7 TT

Man, what is the deal these days!!

I was coming back tonight with another guy I know who drives a Camaro SS 10sec one. Well, we were just cruising around 90mph, and we came up onto a RX7. Silver, all nice. Well I let the camaro run him, he waxed his *** ugly!

He did this a few times, I nailed the gas and noticed he wasn't leaving me. I was like umm this is strange.

So me and the RX7 did like 4 runs, all the same results. We both nailed it, from 65mph in 3rd gear, and we were even till I hit about 90, and started walking away. By 110 I was 1 car or so in front of him! I was like man this is weird. Me and my buddy in the camaro looked at each other like, what the?

Anyways, I guess you can call that a kill! hehehehhe

Guess my car is just really strong or something...I have no idea! I am completely stock.

Maybe he didn't really try because he reads these boards and thought it would be funny to read this later

That or he had a leg cramp, or the twin turbo sticker that was on the back came off a car that really did have TT (forgive my ignorance on the last gen RX-7 ... not sure if it came without TT, pretty sure it was an option). We all know this isn't that uncommon. I see Mustang 5.0's miracualously become Cobra's all the time

The rotary engines on these cars are not exactly known for their durability. The seals on his engine may have been shot.

Russ's story was confusing, but I think he said the RX-7 beat the Camaro, but the Maxima beat the RX-7. Is that how it went?

The RX-7 probably blew a gasket or something when he raced the Camaro, so he was taking it easy against the Maxima.

Or, he said to himself, "Why waste gas racing a car I know I can beat even if I gave him a 10-second head start?"

No, the camaro left the rx7 bad, and I left the rx7 as well slowly.

It must suck to have about 30 more hp, weigh 400lbs less than Russ's max and still get walked.

Dunno Russ. If it happened fine. But you gotta think it's because the damn thing was running on worn apex seals.

A 5spd 5th Max with a few bolt ons would give an e36 M3 a run. Quite a few .org guys have reported running with stock e36 M3 beating them out or pretty even.

15.10 Maxima beats MKiii RX7 that typically run 13.80s...and on a freeway no less.

Now I've heard it all.

Was the RX7 smoking?
Did it have problems revving past 6000rpms?
Did it have a vacuum leak?
Was the ports stuck closed?
clogged cat?
Was the driver starting in 5th?
Was the rx7 going the other way?

These are the only reasons you would beat a RX7.

A somewhat decent driver (which russ is) in a 00-01 Maxima against a ??somewhat decent driver?? in a good running RX7 (all FDs are TT, in case some of you didn't know) would spell death to the Maxima.

Now I have heard it all. You don't have to lie to kick it Russ. We all know your car will not beat an even semidecently running tt rx-7.
