5th Gen: What did you do to your 5th Gen today?

The catback is nice, I have the srs which I very similar from research. One thing J have to say, having it for a bit over a half year now I wish it was 'growlier' also, not so much drone when I'm casually accelerating

I only ordered the Megan racing one because it said it was some what quiet. I can't stand how loud it is right now.

Well I almost wrecked mine goofing off with my neighbor.
Going triple digits and coming up on a 90° turn and I lost my brakes. Thank god its a manual and I could down shift and ebrake it. Just barely made that dang turn.
So I just ordered a new master cylinder.
See I should know better than doing stupid stuff like that and my car was nice enough to remind me without killing me. Heard you loud and clear Mr maxima...

New snow tires installed! Went with Dunlop wintersport 4D's. Just in time for the six inches of snow we recently had. Bought 'em from tirerack.com. Pretty sweet rebate offers going on right now too, $130 back!

Discovered an oil leak, hard to miss with a puddle on the damn driveway... It'll be Thursday before I can get it up on a hoist and figure out what's leakin'!
Turns out it's power steering fluid, easy fix.

Cleaned her up today. Planned some more mods I wanted to do but I don't know what to do next!
So far I have: Full LED tails, all bulbs in the rear are also LED, 20% tint on the rears and sunroof, 35% on the front. 20" Spec-1 "Spec 34 series" wheels on 225/30 tires. I need ideas and comments! I know someone will say the rims are too big but I like em!

Thank you! And yea, I've been wondering what to go with to get rid of that gap. But just on the front or do all 4?

I have a long story about this max I am putting together when I have more time I think the 5.5 gen lovers will get a kick out of. This forum has been an INVALUABLE resource in the development of this Max and I would like to give something back. Stay tuned.

I went to the grave yard today and I found a 2001 with really fresh rear sway bar installed on it and I pulled all the brackets and hardware and went to the lady on the front desk to pay and she said 22,50$ I was like hell yeah not a bad upgrade for 22$

I know the SE bar is a tad bit thicker, like 1/8" or 1/16", and the bushings are sized accordingly. I don't have the metrics any more, but I remember that when I replaced my bushings, it was one of the factors I had to consider.

Installed a new brake master cylinder and stainless flex lines to the calipers today. Put in speed bleeders and thought I had all the air out but when I went for my test drive the brake pedal is grabbing really low. Guess I will have to rebleed it this weekend. Also picked up a new oil pan and oil cooler line. Will be installing that Sunday

Thought I would experiment on the poor Maxima. I noticed that the boot for the cv joint was starting to split. Since I discovered it early, I decided to replace just the boot.
Since I have more time than money and the fact that it has been at least 25 years since I replaced a boot, I went and "squandered" $8 on a boot. I couldn't separate the cv joint with the axle in the car Like I thought I could, so I did have to take it all the way out, an extra 15 minutes.
So it's done. Whoopie. Bad news is that I was spinning the wheel bearing while everything was apart and I don't think it is long for the world. I just hope it lasts through the winter.

Had a bad misfire on my way from haircut today-so I limped it home and I've got a obd scanner in my car and was #1 cyl misfire-and I did replaced the #1 coil pack and she's firing on all 6 now! Mission accomplished!

I got my oil report back from blackstone.
"There's some room for improvement here.
We will say that most wear metals are at solid levels for
this type of engine.
The majority matches up well next to universal averages, which are based on a similar
use interval of about 4,200 miles. Our concern lies with lead (bearings) and potential coolant. Potassium is
a marker for coolant, and some types of coolant will also add silicon to the oil. Silicon may also be a
harmless sealer, but dirt is another source so inspect air filtration. The TBN was strong, but watch the
coolant reservoir and try 4,000 miles again to monitor.
