HIDs ruined headlight seal HELP!

Okay so I just got my car back from some lengthy shop time and the HIDs wont turn on. The fogs work so that means my headlights are getting power as well (fogs wont go on without the headlights on) So i have eliminated it being a power problem.

Its the HIDs. I noticed they have caused the round rubber seal around the back of the headlight to deteriorate. Didnt melt, just came apart. Also the 30amp fuse that was on the relay was a bit melted as well on its top (not blown)

Should I just dump the HIDs and go back to stock? are my ballasts doing something? are my HIDs too much? Or is there a way I can fix this.

8000k 35 watt hi/low H4s are what ive got.

if the HID's are not in the stock 5.5 gen Housings, you might have installed them incorrectly? considering that the 5th gen housings weren't designed for HID bulbs. Im not really sure what else you could do to salvage what you got maybe someone else will know better though....

If you have 5th gen halogen housings I suggest doing it right and getting upgraded halogens and keeping it legal, or swapping to 5.5 gen housings and get D2R HID bulbs, or retrofit projectors into your 5th gen housings.

You might want to post more information on your setup for more definitive answers

if these are in 00-01 housings, this is what you deserve for putting HIDs in non-HID housings. All the rest of the drivers on the road will thank your HIDs for self destructing because they now dont have to put up with your HID light scattering all over the roadway and blinding everyone.

if this is on stock HID housings...then nevermind

It would be kind of odd for both of them to go out at the same time.

If you back probe the hid light connector leaving the ballast is voltage.

Also do hear your ballast buzz when they initially turn on?

I also have a hid kit which I installed about 2 years ago and still running strong but I swapped out my headlights for one from a 2002.
