So i have a 2001 infiniti i30, love it, put new alternator in, new rotors, left outer tie rod, starter and it needs a catalytic converter.. It has 219,442 miles and the engine runs great but the ONLY rust forming is in the rear passenger wheel well at the bottom front corner. Should i save for a few months about $3000 and sell the car to get about $5500-6000 altogether and buy an 04 maxima, or keep it and spruce it up. If i keep it i could keep the rust repair and converter under $2000.

04 Maxi will have more problems than the 01 I30.

the thing is i could also do so much with the i30 with $3000..i could find a mint condition drivers seat to replace the one thats tearing, get new wheels, lower it, fix the rust..i hate being a car guy, want so many different ones but love the one i have.

Most likely, it's not your at converter. It's probably your O2 sensor. Taking my 01 into the shop today to get mine replaced.
