Won't rev past 2.5k

In any gear or neutral. I have the SES light on, the only code is the EGR valve, I took it to a shop to get my AC repaired and the guy tells me the EGR has nothing to do with this, then he asks me if the vehicle has been chipped, and I don't even know if you can do that to a 2k Maxima. What could be the issue?

I was thinking MAF as well, but there are no codes about the MAF, I would hate to pay $130 for a new MAF and then still have the same issue.

Maf sensor i think can still not be working right even if it doesnt throw the code. I think when the maf sensor is just pretty my not working is when it throws a MAF code. But like me right now, I think my maf is on the fritz and its not throwing a code but i THINK its also causing me to get a false VIAS code. So yeah im working on that. But typical if you not revving over "2500" especially that number is MAF. But yeah I think if it was EGR there are threads about cleaning it.

Ok, MAF it is, now, does anyone recommend a specific MAF? I was reading about a mod done to the MAF, this was a few weeks ago, and I just wanna know if it applies to the 5th gen?

Get an OEM MAF. The mod you read about is probably for the 2002/2003 only.

Yep, he can just get the cheaper 5th gen mafs... But not have to modify it.
I think they are around $80? Not $300, like 5.5 gen's.

How is that a fail....i said get a maf just like u said, and if you read through the forums, and from experience, The MAF might not throw a code on its way going out. And usually when people(noted on the forums and through experience) can't rev past 2500 it points towards the maf. So how is that a fail? :-/

Well if you read it again out loud using the punctuation or lack there of, you SHOULD be able to figure out why he said that...

What you are trying to say is " replace your MAF "

What came out was " dsfdsjiewfnwjagkjkjashdf MAF safdjsljhafewuhuihewqa"

So I just threw in a new MAF, and i'm still having the same problem, it will not rev past 2.5.

Edit:
If I turn the car off and back on, it will rev till the redline and drive normally. So I would turn it on, not be able to rev past 2.5k, turn it off and on, and it would work fine.
