Hello, I've got this weird hissing sound like an air leak coming from the engine (3.5L).. Looks to be right in front of the intake manifold which two vaccum lines and electrical connector run into. I'm not sure the name of this part and I'm not even sure if its something that normally goes bad on these cars. I'm pretty sure its that location and I don't believe the hoses are bad. Thanks.

 

that solenoid does go bad and sets a check engine light. Use throttle body cleaner to pin point vacuum leaks.

 

That meathod has never worked for me in the past but yes I will try again.. Thanx

 

Does anyone know the name of this part, I can't find it and don't have my manual around.

 

VIAS control solenoid is the small piece in the middle with the electrical connection on it...The big part is the VIAS tank...It all controls your VIAS power valve on the left side of the intake manifold.

Pretty sure you have a pin hole leak or crack in the vacuum line that connects to the IM to the VIAS solenoid.
