I will be installing a Warpspeed y-pipe that I had sitting in my garage attic for a couple years now and both pre-cats are gutted, so I did do some minor mods with the install. But...

...Honestly, my whole plan is to get it up and running to sell it

I bought it with 59k back in '06 to replace my '96 G20. It's been ridden hard and put away wet way too many times. My motto is and has always been "Drive it like you stole it"

This was actually a way to mark something off of my bucket list. To swap an engine.

My current daily is a '99 Q45 that I purchased literally 4 days after the engine blew in the Max and I've found I'm really enjoying it. One owner, super cheap and taken care of...

...installed my G35 coupe rims in place of the stock 16's

Not much to report. Been busy with other things. Got the transmission in today as well as a few other small things...

The engine hoist has come in real handy:

Thank you for this. I've got to remove the engine from my 02 as both cylinder banks have low compression, the timing chain tensioners need replaced and it leaks.

A couple of questions. Is it easier to remove the engine without the transmission attached?

What all do you need to do to remove the tranny? I suppose you have to pull both axles. Any gotchas to look out for?

Sorry for all the questions, but just want to get all my ducks in a row before getting into this.

thanks,
Brian

Brian, I recently replaced the engine in an 03 Infinity that I picked up with a bad motor and found it is a lot easier to remove the transmission and then the engine if you are taking them out from the top.
This is also a good time to look at your power steering hose for leaking while it is out. If is leaking, buy a good one or you will get the whine.

I think that is the route I'm going to take myself. I've got a two post lift so I can easily drop the trans from below. Then I'll lift the motor out from top. Now, if I could just get the 10 year old rusted exhaust bolts off so I can go about removing things.

Nice write up on the engine swap, Nismopc. Where did you find that engine, did it happen to be down at Cantleys?

Sevan Auto Parts.

Got the Warpspeed y-pipe installed. Not the best fitting pipe and took some finagling to get it to fit properly. Appears to be about 3/4'-1/2' too short. Was able to tighten up each section a little bit each bolt until all finally snugged up. A few more minor things need done and then it's getting listed for sale locally.

As much as I enjoyed the first drive since earlier this year when the original engine blew, and as much power as I feel it's putting out, I am unfortunately just done with it and want to get rid of it now.

'05 engine
'02 intake, throttle body, fuel rail, speed sensor, wiring, etc.
intake block off plate
gutted pre-cats
Warpspeed y-pipe
eBay cat-back
modified stock air box

Think that's about it off top of head.

Installing BC coilovers on my '99 Q45 daily this evening. Looking forward to the improved ride quality on that car and will put forth efforts in the Q45 from here on out. Has original suspension w/172k miles
