sorry guy I am in the vehicle repair business. Body parts are not body parts. They DO NOT always fit right. You can tweak and adjust but when when you have a fender that is shaped slightly different, bumpers that are not molded like the OEM you will have issues. I've found that most aftermarket body panels are much thinner than oem. My body guys can tell sometimes. They will be sanding a car move from one fender to another and one fender is flexing when being sanded. Inspection shows it is aftermarket.

I think with what he was quoted, 2k seems ballpark. I agree with most of your posts. My wife said 2200-2500. Not bad for a chic eh? HAHA!
But totaled is a stretch for many reasons. First off, unless it exceeds a certain amount (most insurance companies use the 50% rule) of damage, you'll never see a "total loss." Even in some cases, Ins. companies will try to get it fixed when over that. Most of the time unless there is structural damage, you will be hard pressed to see a "total" if you can make out the make and model of the car. There are also a lot of variables as to how they will calculate an actual total. Year, make, model...etcetera.
Then it can also boil down to what kind of adjuster you have on the case. I've seen my exes Escalade get a tiny estimate from the insurance company when in fact we received a $8800 estimate from the dealership. Then my 97' Cobra have get the opposite, estimate wise. There are a lot of factors.
