Knuckle question 2000 SE
Hey Fellas
I have a 2000 SE MFD: 12/99 bought in Canada. My pass side axle boot gave out and i took it to my mechanic and it seems that the old axle has stuck to the knuckle. Before taking it to him i sprayed two bottles of WD-40 specialist rust remover over the course of two weeks prior and my mechanic also sprayed the knuckle portion, but it seems that the liquid is not getting to the spindles binding the old axle to the knuckle. We took it to a shop to get it pressed after repeat times of heating it with propane, beating at it with a sledgehammer. The shop owner had no luck within the first couple hours of pressing it but he will leave it overnight to see if the old axle will come out, but the outcome seems like it wont. Tomorrow morning i have prepared to go to a junkyard and hopefully find myself a replacement knuckle for the passenger side. My question is, since the tranny on amy 2000 SE needs a 99'axle with lsd (as prior experience replacing the driers side using an aftermarket axle) would i need a 99 knuckle aswell? or a 2000 knuckle would be the better choice? i really hope the press gets the axle out tomorrow

Why did you not use PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench etc?
Next time you need to un-seize something try them instead of WD40. PB Blaster can be bought at Canadian Tire
If you buy a 1999 part, you are buying a Gen 4 part... Since you own a 2000, shouldn't you be buying parts designed for the 2000 year??

I'm no mechanic though so I could be wrong

When i replaced the drivers side axle i had to buy a 99' with lsd. The 2k axle did not fit into the tranny. Although the tie rod and ball joint is 2000, im worried that the head of the axle wont fit properly on a 2000 knuckle seeing as i just put a 99 axle on (its confusing how my 2k SE MFD: 12/99 bought in Canada requires an aftermarket 99' axle with lsd)
Okay so i will go and try and find a 00-03 knuckle. I gather that the only difference between a 99-00 and a 01-03 axle is the ends connecting to the trans.
