Keyless Entry Programming Issue

Here Goes:
I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE
I purchased a keyless entry remote from ebay.
I replaced the battery in the remote.
I confirmed with a dealer service tech that the vehicle has keyless entry.
I have checked and replaced all blown fuses.

While programming the keyless entry remote I get as far as inserting and removing the key 6 times, watching the hazards flash, inserting the key, turning it to Acc, BUT, when I press a button on the remote, the hazards DO NOT flash.

I have tried completing the rest of the steps of the programming but it doesn't program the remote.

I have worked on this for 2 days and also searched this forum for answers. I have found people that have the similar issue but no resolutions. I appreciate any and all insight you can give me.

Thanks,

Is it a used remote? Most of them go bad after awhile. You can take it apart and look at the circuit board. If the buttons are stuck then that's the problem. You can try cleaning them (with limited success) with electronics parts cleaner. If it is a new 3rd party FOB then maybe that's the problem. With my Max, I could never get the hazard lights to flash but the programming still worked.

What is the FCC ID on the key fob you bought?

The FCC ID # for the 2001 Maxima is KBRASTU10.

It is a used remote, but none of the buttons are stuck. The remote appears to be in great shape. The buttons actually click and pop like it is new.

I will have to get a magnifying glass, (hopefully tomorrow), in order to read the FCC code. I will let you know what it is when I do.

Thanks for the input and knowledge, of which I have very little.

That kind of sucks, as dennismik said above, that only work if that FCC# is correct. I realized I need a new remote replacement along with a key since I lost one set of key almost a year ago, never got around getting a new one since the stealership wanted 90 bucks for a remote and a key 75 and not including the programing it.
