Alarm Problems ??

HELP!

The alarm on my 2K Maxima goes off for no apparent reason several times a day. I have had this problem for a few weeks now and the neighbors are starting to get annoyed.

Any troubleshoothing suggestions? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Timmeh? Map light? I have looked into our ESM and did not notice anything on how the MapLight affects our Alarm System.

I have left it on a couple of times. Throughout the night and still the car started.

But since our factory alarm sucks, and there is no shock sensor, only think I can think of is that there must be a bad/loose connection at any one of many different places. Such as maybe the door switch is faulty and it sends a ground to the alarm and it triggers it to go off.

Others can be the Smart Entrance Unit can be faulty, it might be sending wrong signals or there are wires there that are shorting against something.

Just alot of things it can be.

I have also looked at the ESM

and there is no explanation for it (maybe other than voltage drop).. but mine and several others (2000 it seems) will go off after leaving the map light on for a few hours. Heck for all I know, the lamp itself goes out on its own with smart entrance... but if the switch is in the on position, it will go off... like clockwork. 2k1's may not do it.

All I can say is the 2000 to 2001 "electronics" of our cars are very "scammish"
