Rusted windshield frame

So after having this car for a few months i'm seeing how rusty this car really is.

I plan to do a rust restore next summer at home but one of my worries is that i have a cracked windshield due to rust. Anyone ever seen the damage of a rusted windshield frame? Main concern being do i have to pull the dash if its real bad or is it accessible when the glass is out?

The lip that the windshield is glued onto is out in the open when the glass is removed. If there is a rust problem, what you have to do depends on ho bad the problem is.

However, I have never heard of the windshield cracking from rust before.

well look at it this way, if you have glass sitting on an uneven surface whats going to happen? It'll crack, it happens all the time and its all due to rust damage on a windshield frame.

Mine is in the drivers side corner but here is an example

and thanks dennis, i feel a bit better knowing the frame is quite accessible once the glass is out.

i'm hoping its not that bad, but i bought it cracked, and there is actually a hole in bottom glass that i have to fill with calk for the winter. How long it was there and how long water dripped into the frame is a mystery to me!

That is a possibility, so it's a learn from experience thing.

I hope that your window frame isn't uneven because with a unibody car, that means the car body is twisted.
