I'm a traitor

Well after waiting a month and a half for that perfect Maxima, I finally gave up today. I had a friend going to the auctions three days a week trying to find me a car. He would have gotten me a great deal at wholesale, but it just wasn't there. I had to have a car - I drive 30 to 40K a year for work and the POS Sunfire he gave me as a loaner was driving me nuts.

So I settled for something else.

Don't hate me guys, but I got a Huh Huh Huh.....**** I can't say it.

HONDA. Ok there, I said it. I got a Honda Accord EX coupe. Had to do it. Needed a car and I got a good deal on it. I miss my old Maxima and I wish I was driving another one right now but it will do for the next year or two. After that either another Max or maybe an Altima.

bah!

just a car.. these days its 'cool' just to have a job to need to drive to. I think it's only uncool to smatter it with graphics, slap on a big wing and pick street races with cars that are 2x faster

Re: bah!

I know I know.......but it really isn't that bad. Its got all the trimmings and being a 5 speed it will be decently fun to drive.

I haven't seen it yet, I'll get a chance to drive it and make sure I want it on Monday.

Really, its a good decision. I'm just out of college starting my first real job and this car is cheap. At this point in my life I probably shouldn't be spending a lot of money on a car anyway.

Like I said, in a year or two, I'll be worthy to post on here again.

Well, you're going to be overwhelmed by riceboyz and the intelligence levels on these sites are definitely one or several steps below the .org, but here are the main ones.

www.purehonda.com (pure ryceboi - not even worth going to)

www.honda-acura.net (so-so, average mix of people)

www.superhonda.org (too many riceboys and 16 year olds, has been down since xmas )

www.accordclub.com (part of HondaSociety.com - excellent for Accord's. Has forums by generation like Maxima.org. Above average people, minimal riceboys. Best site for 4-banger Accord's)

www.honda-tech.com (pretty small, haven't really been there)

www.accordv6.com (site I co-founded but have since left. Excellent if you have an Accord V6.)

Holding pattern. Body shop needs to strip the car down so the insurance adjuster can come back and check for frame damage better, and the body shop is backed up like mad, and i've been so madly tied down at work the past week that I haven't even had time to pick my nose much less make phone calls

Schedule is looking better next week though so I will be making some phone calls and lighting fires under people's @sses to get things moving.

Just found out that the retard that hit me might not be insured!

I'm praying he really does have insurance, though. If not, and my car isn't totalled I will be royally focked and might have to open some litigation

Pray for a total.

Hmm... I'll have to peak inside a 4th Gen and see if I could fit or not. I can tell just by looking, now.

If my car is totalled I was thinking of getting something half-decent used and drive it until some new cars come out.

Improved Altima
04 Maxima
03 Accord V6
03 EVO VII
03 WRX STi
0x who knows...

I will sit in a 4th Gen and see if I can fit.

Type-R Sticker?

j/k

Which exact year and model/trim do you have? I read it's a 5spd, right?

Congrats on the new car. The Accord is a very nice car. Very comparable with the Maxima (just a bit slower; mainly b/c they really need a 5spd for their V6). Best of luck.

Yes its a 99 EX coupe 4banger 5 speed.

I would have liked to have another V6, but I didn't want an auto.

Nice choice

The best place to checkout is www.accordclub.com in the 6th Gen Forum. Lots of good guys there. Some sort of intake should definitely be at the top of your list, along with some Denso Iridium spark plugs (they actually give gains on Honda's). There's a lot of aftermarket support for the 4-cylinder Accord's since they've been using the same engine block design for over 10 years now.

Good luck

Welcome to the club Rich!!

Some simple mods that WORK on I4 Accords:
Cold Air Intake (AEM or Iceman)
Header (DC Sports 4-1 or 4-2-1)
A'PEXi WS catback exhaust
(These are good mods that you'll feel; just don't expect to beat any 4th or 5th gen Maximas.)

if you want to keep going with the mods:
Cam Gear (Skunk2, AEM)
Pulleys (AEM, UR)
Fuel Pressure Riser (Stillen, Weapon R)
VTEC controller (APEXi VAFC)
Ignition (Jacobs Electronics Ice Pack)

(this is starting to sound like my SHO signature)

Steve's right in his commentary on the various Honda message boards: don't bother with Purehonda (should be called 'Purerice'), SHO has A LOT of downtime, hondasociety (www.accordclub.com)is probably the best.

peace.

f23a4

P.S.: Don't go near those Type R stickers; mine caused me to rear end an F-16 here in NJ (last week), totalling the plane and causing the pilot to have to eject!!
