buying new wheels

Hey guys, im trying to buy some new wheels for my maxima, its a se 20th anniversary edition and its got the 17's and 225/50/r17 tires. I would like to use the tires that are on it already sine they are still good and I would just like to mount them on new rims. so obviously I need 17" rims but what width do I need? and also if any of you have suggestions on what kind of wheels look good, any advice is greatly appreciated

I believe a 9in wide wheel will fit 225's but dont quote me. Im a big fan of TSW wheels. Reasonably priced and high quality. The new Nurburgring style looks great on Maximas. I have the older discontinued ones

Your stock wheels are 17 x 7. Recommended maximum for tires is 225 but many people on here run 235 no problem on those.

If you want to keep the 225 tires you need to maintain a certain width unless you want stretched tires like a ricer fool. Here is an official breakdown:

215mm = 6.5", 7", 7.5" and 8"
225mm = 7", 7.5", and 8"
235mm = 8", 8.5", and 9"
245mm = 8", 8.5", and 9"

IMO 7.5-8" makes the most sense, that way you can keep your tires now, then use 225/235 as you wish. I prefer 7.5" as the perfect size and mid-point for using 225/235 tires. You really don't want more on the Maxima. This should give you a good starting point, and if you search there are a few great threads with tons of info on wheels/tires.

EDIT: for wheels I would go for something just like these:
MOTEGI MR125

Light weight (16lbs) and 17 x 7.5" size. Those are good, Enkei is good also. IMO Motegi/Enkei is the best.

Go with 350z 17" or G35 either sedan 7 spoke or coupe 5 spoke. All are the same off set and all with look good!
