exhaust thoughts

So the time has come for my exhaust to be replaced. I don't have the money to splurge on a nice megan or simular price kits. I have a 2.5" test pipe on stock piping with a 40 series muffler welded on at the moment.

This is what I was planning buying for a kit, only for the piping :

Then buying this axle back muffler because I hate the fart box cannon:

Input welcome.

I have the second one (dual tip). It sounds good, not ricey. I'd recommend it. Not loud either.

Cost wise that as much as a high end system.... I know you get what you pay for but I have a budget to work with.... I'm having the cancer on rear wheel wells done so money us tight.

A budget that doesn't allow you to get what you need to do something right, is not really a budget.
If money is tight, then tryin to replace the exhaust right now shouldn't be the priority. You said it yourself about your finances, and if you hack something together or get a system that annoys you (more likely the cheaper you go) then, you're only going to end up spending even more money. Just do it right the first time.

I work at a shop and we do custom exhaust work. I have tried all kinds of exhaust on my maxima. I'm a huge Flowmaster guy.. But I have to say on these maximas.. Magnaflow is the way to go. Flowmaster especially that 40 series mufflers just make it to raspy for my liking. Have you talked to your local exhaust shop and ask what they would charge to just make your exhaust?

I don't know what your exact budget is but if it's that tight then repair your existing tube with crush bent at a local muffer shop! I just dug deeper into those system from Fleabay which are listed at $116, $122, and $380...These are all 2.25" tube sized systems...So my resonator and mufflers from Magmaflow were wrong for this tubing....
If you were to purchase the Fart Can systems $116 & $122 plus the Magnaflow component (Amazon) p/n: 10435 $83.76 and muffler p/n: 12251 $ 106.21 that totals: $306/$312....That's still cheaper than the SRS Type RE that listed at $380 and still far cheaper than a 3" Cattman catback $750....
So maybe you need to fix you crap at a local shop if you're truly on a budget! You can purchase a fart can system and just add the Magnaflow resonator to quiet the crap down more....It's plenty of options.
Your super cheap option would be to go to Pepboys or online and install Cherry bomb components Good Luck!

Yeah! Local performance exhaust shops are ridiculously expensive! That's why I laugh at guys that say Cattman exhaust systems were overpriced!!! Cause his custom built system should be going for $1200-$1500!!!! Go look up B+B, Corsa, Borla, they aren't cheap!

I have the ebay fart cannon(didnt order) and it sounds good with the silencer. I wanted the bigger can with the tapered ends(obx style) that looks less rice but they had the wrong picture up and refunded me money to make it right. fitment isnt bad at all and sounds decent for a temp set up. I do not like the mid pipe being 2 piece, i do get a slight rattle with it hitting the gas tank shield. I will probably cut the flanges off and put in a straight pipe and clamp it on. that is the only complaint though. if its budget just get the cheap ebay and call it a day

2002 MAXIMA exhaust before test pipe - YouTube

That's mine before my test pipe so it's a little deeper now. I like how sounds now and wouldn't mind it a little louder. But that high RPM cracking and popping kinda sound ricey. But I know that's what you get with the cheaper systems. But the eBay system sounds not too bad with the silencer in it.

Here's after the test pipe. My girls is scared to really get into the throttle.
