Newbie with an '01

Hey guys and gals. Newbie here in IL. and I just bought my first Maxima. It's an '01 20th Anniversary Edition. I have always liked the looks of these cars since they have came out. Anyway, this car is black with the gray cloth interior, polished 17" wheels but, I will be looking for the '04 model 18" wheels in the future. This car has the 3.0 with all the bells and whistles except heated seats and leather. Figure I would make a post to see if there is any tips or tricks for this generation? Also looking for a decent LED light kit for head lights and fog lights? I have had HID before on my truck but, I would like to try the LEDs. Thanks in advance!

Don't put HIDs in stock housings. It blinds everyone else. Do a projector retrofit if you're going to do it.

Thanks for the info guys! I may take Amerikaner up on a kit! Where is a good place to purchase the headlight kit and lenses? Do they make LED's for the head lights or just HID?

I just found some projector Halo plug-n-play lights. Are these LED or HID?

I can't find any projector headlights to fit an '01 A.E. car... What's the difference between the A.E. or a standard '01 model lenses?

Welcome and nice car man. I think that body style is my favorite Maxima body style. Good luck with it.

Nice Max, always a fan of a nice and clean AE!

For headlights don't buy any aftermarket eBay stuff because fitment is a bit off on them, those projector halo lights aren't very good. For headlights you want to find a pair of 5.5gen HID's off an 02-03 Maxima and then keep em stock or you can do retro HID in that housing but don't do it in stock housing. The 5.5 gen headlights will be a perfect fit.

As for regular 5th gen headlights vs. AE only difference is the lens treatment and AE has "smoked style".

Congrats on the car! Now get headers or gut the cats and Y-Pipe that thing, let it breathe

Engine transplant, exhaust, Y pipe? Can true "duals" be run and certain mufflers be put on? This Maxima stuff is all new to me. So, the headlights from an '02 or '03 are already equipped with HID's? Seems better than trying to make the Ebay lenses fit. I have plans to get Gen 6 wheels in the near future. I like the '04 style wheels on the Gen 5's. Any and all help is appreciated here guys! Thanks in advance!

www.vleds.com has some plug n' play LED headlights. They are also good for all kinds of exterior LEDs as well.

All this Maxima stuff is new to me. I went to the website posted and it shows only the projectors themselves... I've had HID's, but I hate how long it takes for them to warm up. I would like to try LED headlights but, want to see some pics first..
