Has anybody with a 05/5.5 gen maxima used a dc sports intake? it lists the 02-06 Altima but our engine bay is set up different.

Engine bay is nearly identical, MAF bolt pattern might be different so it wont work unless you use a MAF adapter for your MAF.

Do yourself a favor and get a JWT, they actually work.

You can fit the 6th gen CAI's easy if you follow the battery relocate instructions around here. Search for "true cai" or something like that.

But, you're better off with a good sri and filter. I've ran different setups including this cai you're asking about (for the 6th gen though). Now I'm running a 4" from cant_get_ryte and loving it.

Keep in mind, it's not as easy as just tossing the 4" in there though. For "just" an intake, I still suggest a JWT, best bang for the buck. And it works, like I said. Dyno proven.

How did the person with the 4" maf tube even get the car to start?

When I tried it back in 2013 the car wouldn't start

Mine starts every day, all day, multiple times a day. Like I said, it's more than just tossing the 4" on there and driving, it takes more than that.

That term is way overused & misunderstood around here.

Bottom line here, I think is ... based on the opinion of those in the know; is there an aftermarket CAI that's worth a rat's as^? If so, name it.

Meh, CAI's are overrated IMO. JWT is the best bang for the buck for most set-ups. But if you want to get serious and you have supporting mode, a 4" intake is the way to go.

But it takes more than just a filter and pipe. It takes a MAF housing, larger injectors, a MAF scaling/tuning, and last but not least, a WB to monitor it.

That's nearing roughly 750$ going the cheapest route. When a JWT can be had for about 90-110$.
